Ultra Low Lux Technology is sometimes referred to as a “starlight camera”. An ultra low lux camera has the capability to operate in extreme low-light conditions down to 0.00004 lux – or overcast starlight. It can amplify the low light available from moonlight and other remote external sources to provide high quality video images for navigation. The Camera “sees” light that is reflected off of objects. Low light that enters the See Cannon’s lens is gathered and processed through the cameras special electronics to render high quality, near day light looking images on a video monitor. Some light is required for the camera to render an image. On a moonless night, the light from a flashlight or from an onboard floodlight or work light will be enough to allow the See Cannon to function and provide useful images. In port, reflected lights from the docks will be enough light. The See Cannon Camera will interface with any Marine LCD displays that allow video input such as are commonly available from Garmin, Furuno, Simrad and others.
