Manufacturing:
The mechanical parts
of the Classic Profurl are machined by a controlled, patented
process from extrusions of the purest metallurgical quality.
Profurl is not manufactured from castings.

Adjustable
Drum Height:
The
standard long link plates (left) make access to anchors and
ground tackle easier. This feature also enhances visibility
forward, eliminates sail chafe by pulpits and lifelines,
eliminates loading the sail with boarding seas, and allows easy
turnbuckle inspection.
Fitting a Profurl
with the optional turnbuckle cylinder
(right) enables the drum to be mounted at deck level for maximum
sail luff length.

Profurl
Wrap Stop:
Profurl's patented
wrap stop eliminates the chance of halyard wrap around
the headstay, and prevents jamming of spinnaker or spare
halyards.

Profurl
Drum:
The Profurl drum is
formed of an unbreakable, unscratchable,
UV resistant high impact plastic. It is open for easy
line inspection. Its slippery surface and patented conical
flanges minimize any jamming potential. The strong stainless
steel arms guard to keep the furling line on the drum should the
line be slackened during sail deployment.

Profurl
Couplings:
The solid, one-piece
couplings are machined to lock in place thereby transmitting
loads equally throughout the foil column. The plastics used for
the bushings which isolate the extrusions from the stay contain
graphite and molybdenum bisulpher. They are self lubricating.

| Ball
Bearings:
Only Profurl's refined technology
has been able to develop the use of carbon 100 C6 ball bearings.
Classic Profurl's mechanisms are lubricated with a special
grease, and permanently sealed.
|
Seals:
The double-lip seals
above and below the bearings are specially made for Profurl of a
high technology elastomer. Stainless steel clips embedded in the
seals during molding provide perfect fit. Anti UV seals protect
the double lip-seals.

| Quality:Profurl's
devotion to only the best of research, development and
production techniques result in the highest quality furling
system. This devotion has been awarded the seal of Bureau
Veritas. |
