Selecting the Correct Headsail

UK PC Genoa Part.gif (7702 bytes)

PC headsails are designed to fit a wide variety of boats that sheet headsails to a deck mounted genoa track, or a toe rail track.

In order to select the correct PC headsail you will need to determine the luff length, and make sure that you are able to trim the sail properly.

The front of the sail is the luff, that attaches to the headstay with hanks, or to your roller furler with a luff tape.  The tack of the sail attaches to the boat near the bow.  The top of the sail is the head, that attaches to your halyard, or halyard swivel if you have roller furling.  Your sheets attach to the clew of the sail.  the bottom edge of the sail is the foot, and the back edge of the sail is the leech.

If you have a toe rail track which runs the length of your boat, all you need to do is select the correct luff length.

If you have a shorter, deck mounted genoa track, you will need to check that it is in a position which will allow you to trim your new sail.

Please follow our step-by-step instructions to make sure you get the best possible fit for your new PC sail.
