| In 1861 Ritchie completed the first ever liquid filled
compass, a model of which is on display today in the Museum of Science in London,
England; the only foreign product so honored. Through the
years Ritchie has continued to greatly improve its compasses, capitalizing on the most
cutting edge technology of the time. Research and design changes continue to be an ongoing
process at Ritchie, striving to make the high-tech electronics available to the pleasure
boat owner by offering smaller, more affordable compass models that use the same technology at
an affordable price.
